Here at Poochies we believe that the safety and comfort of your dog comes first. With this in mind there are certain procedures we will not carry out as they can be classed as medical or could put your dog at risk. With this in mind please see below for our policies and exclusions:
Matted Coats – If a dogs coat is found to be significantly matted we can undertake a certain amount of de-matting. In compliance with our code of conduct and for your dogs well being, the maximum time we will spend de-matting a dogs coat in a single grooming session is 20 minutes. This will generally be carried out by two groomers and an additional charge of £15.00 will apply. Alternatively, the coat can be clipped off or we can advise on the best cause of action should you wish to keep your dog in a fuller coat.
Anal Glands – This is considered a medical procedure and therefor our staff will not undertake the procedure of expressing your dogs anal glands and we recommend that this is done by a qualified vet.
Hand Stripping – At this time hand stripping is a service we do not offer due to the risks of possible infection after bathing.
Vaccinations and Flea Policy – So that we can provide a clean, safe and healthy environment for all dogs please ensure that your dog is up to date with a suitable flea treatment solutions and vaccinations. Applying a flea treatment shampoos has a risk of adversely reacting with any medication that your dog may be on therefore it is our policy not to apply flea treatment shampoos.
Unfortunately, in cases where flea infestation is present, we may have to advise owners to take their dogs home for treatment, and re book an appointment when the infestation has been cleared.
